  19.         What does APCNames ?
  20.  
  21.         APCNames is a useful utility for people who use PC disks to
  22.         interchange files between Amiga (with CrossDOS) and Macintosh
  23.         (with AccessPC®).
  24.  
  25.         It implements a slightly modified (debugged ?) version of the
  26.         file mapping algorithm used by AccessPC to map the long Mac file
  27.         names to short MS-DOS file names. By that means APCNames lets you
  28.         reconstruct the original file names on the Amiga.

  30.         As APCNames is written in ANSI-C, it might be useful also for
  31.         UN*X users. The source is included in the archive.

  34.         What's new in this version ?
  35.  
  36.         v1.1: As I got bored of the "hardwired" type & creator mapping of
  37.         the former versions, I decided to make it configurable. This version
  38.         of APCNames allows you to specify for which extension which type
  39.         & creator information is created. See the documentation for more
  40.         details.

  42.         v1.2: In former versions APCNames did nonsense when encoding more
  43.         than 2 files with the same 8 starting characters and same extension.
  44.         In some cases it even crashed. The encoding of file names was
  45.         complete rewritten and should work for up to 38 files with the same
  46.         8 starting characters and same extension.

  48.         v1.2a: For you Unix users out there this archive includes the sources
  49.         of a version of APCNames running on Unix, which should compile with
  50.         GCC properly. I use this version on SunOS. Look into the docs for
  51.         additional options.
